About Amelie

Amelie has a knack for not doing things by the books. Brought up under the traditional education system in China, Amelie went against her parents’ will and her fellow classemates’ trends, and pursued her passion in food by attending to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). She studied French, Italian, and New American cuisines that have defined the top echelon of restaurants. Throughout the years, she worked in every position in restaurant operations, from manager to dishwasher (her parents were not aware, of course) and eventually decided to open her own Chinese restaurant in New York City at age 23.

Since then, Amelie has become one of the most renowned leaders of the restaurant industry of NYC and a game-changer in its ever-evolving Chinese food scene. She grew her business from a humble neighborhood restaurant to a multi-location brand, generating over $12,000,000 in annual revenue with 80 employees.

Recognized for her leadership, Amelie has been praised for leading the wave of new Chinese restaurants in New York City. She was named on Eater’s Young Guns list, Forbes 30 Under 30, Eater New Guard of New York.
